The pool, the sun, the bbq, the fun, the kids, the company! What a day! Again, we accepted the invitation from my dear sister to celebrate 4th of July at her home and so we decended upon the lovely city of Irvine, CA.
For those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting my sister and her family, let me tell you all you need to know. They are a Christ centered family of 5 who open their arms and their lives to embrace me and mine! My brother in law is a saint as he just quietly goes off into another room with his coffee, magazines and books and allows my sister and I to command the day! He is a wonderful host and always makes sure everyone has exactly what they need and he sweetens it all with a nice comment or two! GOOD man!!
My sister is younger, prettier and more "together" than I am in most ways, so I really should despise her, but alas.... I cannot! Her bright smile and willingness to listen and advise is beyond compare. She always manages to figure out exactly what is necessary at the moment and then goes with it! I hope to be like her when I grow up!
Their children are to die for! Smart, ever so witty, loving, interesting and they actually DO love me! No easy feat I tell you! And then their significant others all follow suit! HOW DO THEY DO THIS?!!! No matter, I just enjoy them no end and am thankful for their company!
My eldest daughter and her family joined us and I had the luck to have 3 other grandchildren along with me too! Sadly my husband, Neil, was working so he didn't get to tag along.
The day was spent swimming, trying to keep all the children accounted for (there was ONE minor mishap, but all was well) and the laughter was evergoing. We enjoyed a few moments with the children at a local park and then packed everyone into 2 vehicles and off to watch the community fireworks. Couldn't get as close as we had hoped, but the kids didn't seem to mind one bit! Eventually we packed up and headed back to our respective homes and had a good night's rest! God Bless America!!!
