Father's Day....

My ever home project burdened husband, Neil and I went out for breakfast on Father's Day then off to Lowe's to look for a new tree for our backyard. Poor guy never saw what was about to hit him! I found the dwarf Mexican lime tree I wanted, then proceeded to show him all the plants we would eventually end up with once our backyard pool and hardscaping was completed. By the time I was finished I could see the "deer in the headlights" look on his face... so I headed him off towards the mulch bins to help settle him a bit.

Since our home is brand new, there is much to think about regarding the design and the building of all the many items "needed" to turn a tract home into OUR home. We bought from a wonderful builder who installed a stop gap measure of landscaping both front and back, so we didn't move into a new home surrounded by dirt and dust. But of curse, (yes, I know), it IS only plantings and lawn to move about or replace once we decide what it is we actually want!

So... back at the home store... poor man was just getting his bearings again when I started showing him all the different types and colors of mulch they had and the ones I liked. I was hoping to gently guide him into the "one" I especially liked, but this time he out foxed me! He decided he wanted to take the ideas I had shown him "home in his head" and look at the different areas before making his final choice. Darn! I almost had him!! Ha ha!

After I picked out a couple smaller plants to add to our front entry walkway we headed inside to look at patio furniture. He was a dear and offered to buy me a porch swing, as I have mentioned how much I enjoyed them growing up... but again... I had something different in mind! I showed him the cloth gazebo's costing $500 and told him I had found one at Big Lot's, of all places, for $300 that was prettier and bigger and he told me to go for it!! Yippee!!! What a good man!

Later that evening our youngest daughter; Samantha, and her Dad prepared a lovely meal of BBQ'd steaks and ribs with sauteed squash and crispy potatoes! Yum, yum! Watched all the hubby's favorite shows and finally tottered off to bed. Monday would be another day!
