Thanks to my thoughtful hubby, we did get the vast majority of the Great Room and dining area painted! It looks nice so far and I can't wait to be able to get it totally finished and put up the crown molding! Then of course we will need drapes and new couches and chairs and wall art and coffee tables and end tables... LOL! Did I say NEED? Oops.... WANT is the operative word!! All in good time though, I am sure!
And since Fall and Halloween are my favorite seasons for decorating, I have had a wonderful time putting out some of my seasonal decorations. I have MUCH, MUCH more in large plastic containers out in the garage just waiting for the time when we have the shelves on the walls and the built in's in the TV niche and of course those afore mentioned coffee and side tables. Not to mention when we move the fire place to the corner of the room and build a REAL mantle and fire surround! (The fireplace is a Heatalator, so it can be moved without worry of a flue and chiminey!) Oh the plans we have for this room still!
Here's a view from the kitchen. We used 2 different colors to help give each part of the room it's own "pop"!
This is our silly undersized fireplace! Eventually it will be moved slightly to the right into that corner and will be raised with a "sit down" hearth and a good size surround and mantle! The way it is now makes no sense!
I love my sparkly spider!
Back behind the couch we have this little game table. It helps when the grandkids are here or for extra seating when the family is all over for a meal!
Not at all thrilled with this furniture, but it's comfy and will make do until the Money Tree blooms!
Our dining area. There is a nice leather topped bench along the back wall we can pull up too!
I have a beautiful carved pine shelving unit to put up here when the hubby is home again to help me!
A final look at the room. Trying to figure out the artwork for the walls still. Since I had originally planned an entirely different type/style of decor I am now under the gun to figure out what goes up instead!
I'm embarrassed to think I let a whole year pass before finally choosing the colors that I knew would work best in here. Well, the French Farmhouse would have worked, but we just aren't made of that kind of money!!! Sheesh, try finding WHITE furniture of good quality at a decent price. Ain't gonna happen!!
I really DO love all the Autumnal colors, always have, so this feels good! And just wait to see what I come up with to make the room change with the seasons! It will be such fun!
Always,
Jackie Lee

Jackie....I am sure you are thrilled that your DH's work (and yours) is paying off finally. ~~ LOVE the view you have from your kitchen, in what looks like the whole width of your house.~~
I KNOW you are going to have fun decorating and shopping for wall art and such. ~~
We have been in our home now.. going on 12 years..and have not changed much...and I am slowly trying to replace things here and there..so that we don't look like we are "frozen" in a time warp. ~~
THANK YOU for having my Blog listed ...I appreciate that so much.
